How to Put a GoFundMe Link in Your TikTok or Instagram Bio (2026)
October 27, 2026 · 7 min read
Copy your GoFundMe link, add it to your Instagram bio and story sticker, and put it in TikTok once eligible. Fees, rules and donor safety, as of October 2026.
Quick answer: Copy your fundraiser link from GoFundMe (open the fundraiser, tap Share, then copy the link). On Instagram, paste it in Edit profile, then Links, and add it to Stories with the Link sticker. On TikTok, paste it in Edit profile, then Links, but only if you have 1,000 followers or a verified Business account, as of October 2026. Below that, TikTok links are not clickable.
How do I copy my GoFundMe link?
- Open your fundraiser on gofundme.com or in the GoFundMe app.
- Tap Share. GoFundMe shows a list of sharing options, including a way to copy the link.
- Copy the link. You can also copy the address from your browser bar; fundraiser pages look like gofundme.com/f/your-fundraiser-name.
- Paste it somewhere first (a note to yourself) and open it to confirm it loads the right fundraiser.
Before you share it anywhere, shorten it. GoFundMe's help center explains how to edit the Fundraiser URL in your fundraiser settings and recommends keeping it short and easy to type. It also says that once you change it, you need GoFundMe support to change it again, and the old link will not work after that. So pick a clean name like gofundme.com/f/help-the-garcia-family on day one, before it goes into bios, flyers and group chats.
How to add a GoFundMe link to your Instagram bio
- Open the Instagram app and go to your profile.
- Tap Edit profile, then Links, then Add external link.
- Paste your GoFundMe URL, add a title such as "Donate to Maya's recovery", and tap Done.
- Drag it to the top if you have other links. Your profile shows the first link, followed by a count of the rest.
Every account can add up to five links as of 2026, and links are added in the mobile app, not on instagram.com. Full steps are in our guide to adding links to your Instagram bio. Links in regular post and Reel captions are not clickable, which is why GoFundMe itself tells people to put the link in their bio and say "link in bio" in posts.
How to share a GoFundMe on Instagram Stories
Stories are where a fundraiser link gets the most taps, because the sticker sits right on the photo. Create a story, tap the sticker icon, choose Link, paste your GoFundMe URL and change the sticker text to something like "Donate here". The Instagram Story link sticker guide walks through it step by step. Save the story to a Highlight called "Fundraiser" so the link keeps working after 24 hours.
GoFundMe's own Share menu also has an Instagram option on mobile that builds a story graphic with your main photo and goal. Add the Link sticker to it yourself before posting.
How to put a GoFundMe link in your TikTok bio
Open TikTok, tap Profile, tap Edit profile, then tap Add next to Links and paste the URL. The catch is eligibility. As of October 2026, TikTok says you can add a website link if you have at least 1,000 followers or a verified Business account. If the option is missing, our TikTok bio link guide covers the usual causes (follower count, age, region, an unverified Business account).
Under 1,000 followers? You cannot make a link clickable, so make it findable:
- Type the short fundraiser name into your bio text, for example "GoFundMe: help-the-garcia-family". It will not be a link, but people can search it.
- Say in the video how to find it, and show the fundraiser name as on-screen text. GoFundMe's social media tips suggest exactly this for accounts under the threshold.
- Link your Instagram in TikTok's Links menu (social links do not carry the 1,000 follower rule) and keep the clickable GoFundMe link in your Instagram bio.
Does TikTok restrict fundraising links? We could not find a TikTok rule that bans personal fundraiser links in a bio as of October 2026. TikTok's Community Guidelines prohibit scams and fraud, its safety pages list donation scams by name, and TikTok can remove links it treats as spam or harmful. Use the full gofundme.com address rather than a URL shortener, and tell the real story.
What does GoFundMe charge? (as of October 2026)
| Item | GoFundMe (US, as of October 2026) | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Fee to start or manage | None | Setting up the fundraiser is free |
| Transaction fee, personal fundraisers | 2.9% + $0.30 per donation | A $50 donation nets about $48.25 |
| Transaction fee, certified nonprofits | 2.2% + $0.30 per donation | Lower rate for registered charities |
| Tip to GoFundMe | Optional, chosen by the donor | Does not come out of your total |
| Donor protection | GoFundMe Giving Guarantee, one year after donating | Worth mentioning to cautious donors |
Fees outside the US differ, and international card or currency conversion fees can apply. Check GoFundMe's pricing page for your country.
How can donors tell a GoFundMe link is real?
Fundraiser links travel through reposts and screenshots, which is where impersonators show up. GoFundMe's own guidance for donors comes down to a few checks, and organizers can make them easy to pass:
- The link is on gofundme.com. Look at the address before entering card details.
- The story explains the connection. Who the organizer is, who the money is for, and how it will be used.
- The money goes to the right person. GoFundMe asks whether the beneficiary controls withdrawals, or how funds will reach them.
- It comes from the real account. Post the link from your own profiles, and say clearly that you only accept donations on GoFundMe.
- No pressure to pay off-platform. GoFundMe flags requests to send money by wire or bank transfer as a red flag.
If a copycat fundraiser appears, report it through GoFundMe and TikTok or Instagram's reporting tools, and pin a post pointing people to the real link.
Where do updates and thank-yous go?
Post updates on GoFundMe first. Its help center says you can share an update with donors by email when you create it, which reaches the people who already gave. Social bios need a different job: one place someone can tap months later and see the whole picture.
That is where a link page helps. A free lit.bio page can hold the GoFundMe link at the top, a short text block with the latest update ("Surgery went well. Thank you, we hit 60%"), a YouTube or TikTok embed of a thank-you video, and links to anything else people ask about, like a meal sign-up or a wish list. Put that one URL in your Instagram and TikTok bios and your Story stickers, and you change the page instead of every profile. The free plan allows up to 10 links with 7-day analytics and no ads, and shows a small "Create your own free page" link.
Keep the donations themselves on GoFundMe. lit.bio is not a fundraising platform: its tips are a Pro feature with a 10% platform fee and none of GoFundMe's donor protections. If a simple link page would help your fundraiser, make one free and put the GoFundMe button first.
