How to Add a Link to Your Reddit Profile (Social Links, 2026)
October 5, 2026 · 6 min read
Add links to your Reddit profile with Social links: open your profile, tap Edit, then Add social link. Up to five links. Mobile, desktop and self-promo rules.
Quick answer: Reddit puts profile links in a section called Social links. In the Reddit app, go to your profile, tap Edit, scroll to Social links and tap Add social link. On the web, open Settings, then the Profile tab (reddit.com/settings/profile), and use Add social link there. Pick a platform such as Instagram or YouTube, or choose a custom URL for any website, paste the link and save. As of 2026 you can add up to five social links, and each one shows as a clickable button on your profile. Your bio (the About text) is better kept for a sentence about you, since URLs typed there are not reliably clickable.
How do I add a link to my Reddit profile on mobile?
- Open the Reddit app and tap your avatar, then open your profile (labeled Profile or My profile, depending on the version).
- Tap Edit on your profile page.
- Scroll down to Social links and tap Add social link.
- Choose a platform from the list, or choose the custom link option to add any website, such as your shop or a link-in-bio page.
- Paste the full URL, starting with https://. For a custom link, add a short display name such as "My shop" or "All my links".
- Tap Save, then open your profile and tap the new button once to check it opens the right page.
Reddit's help center describes the mobile route simply as going to your profile page and selecting Edit. Labels shift between app updates, so if you do not see Social links, update the app from the App Store or Google Play and look again.
How do I add social links to my Reddit profile on desktop?
- Go to reddit.com in your browser and log in.
- Click your avatar in the top right corner and open Settings.
- Click the Profile tab. You can also go straight to reddit.com/settings/profile.
- Find Social links and click Add social link.
- Pick a platform or the custom URL option, paste your link and give it a name.
- Save, then visit your profile to confirm the button appears.
On desktop your social links appear in the profile card beside your posts. In the app they sit under your bio. Changes made in one place show up everywhere.
How many social links can you have on Reddit?
Five. Reddit launched social links with a limit of five per profile, and guides written in 2026 still report the same cap. Once all five slots are full, the add button disappears until you remove one. Reddit's help center confirms you can add social links from your profile settings, but it does not state the number, so if Reddit raises it you will simply see more room in the menu.
Five is enough for most people. The usual setup is your main social accounts plus one custom link to a website or a link-in-bio page. If you have more destinations than that, put a single page with everything on it in the custom slot (more on that below).
Can I put a link in my Reddit bio?
You can type a URL into the About field, but treat it as text. The bio is short, a couple of lines, and whether a typed URL turns into a tappable link varies between the app, new Reddit and old.reddit.com. The social links section exists so you do not have to rely on that.
Use the About field for a sentence that tells people why to click, such as "Ceramicist in Portland. Shop and commissions below." Your display name is edited in the same screen, and your profile's own address is reddit.com/user/yourusername (or the short form reddit.com/u/yourusername) if you want to share it elsewhere.
Is a profile link self-promotion on Reddit?
A link on your own profile is a normal, supported feature, so having one is not a problem in itself. What gets accounts into trouble is how they post. Reddit's spam policy defines spam as repeated or unsolicited actions that negatively affect redditors, communities or Reddit, and lists mass-posting repetitive content for exposure or financial gain as an example. It also lists link-masking or redirecting to harmful domains.
Reddit's own advice for avoiding a spam label is to post authentic content in communities you are personally interested in. If most of your contributions are links to a business you run, own or benefit from, Reddit asks you to be thoughtful about how often you post, or to consider its self-serve ads. On top of that, every subreddit sets its own rules, and moderators decide what counts as spam in their community. Read the rules of a community before you mention your work there.
One detail worth knowing: Reddit says that when you post or comment in a community, its moderators can see your full profile for the next 28 days, whatever your visibility settings. A profile full of promo links next to a thin comment history is exactly what they will notice. The safest pattern is to take part in conversations normally and let people who are curious find your links on your profile.
Why is my Reddit social link not showing?
- It was not saved. Edits only apply after you tap Save. Reopen Edit and check.
- Old app version. Update the Reddit app and reopen your profile.
- Missing https://. Some custom links fail to save or open without it. Paste the full address.
- Shortened or redirect links. Reddit's spam policy targets link masking, so a shortener can be rejected or removed. Use the real destination URL.
- Viewing on old.reddit.com. The old design does not show the newer profile features the same way. Check in the app or on the current site.

When five links are not enough
Reddit is one profile among many. If you also keep links in your Instagram, TikTok and Discord bio, updating each one by hand gets old quickly. A link-in-bio page solves that: one URL in a custom social link slot, and the page itself holds your shop, newsletter, portfolio and other socials.
lit.bio is one way to do it. The free plan gives you a page at lit.bio/yourname with up to 10 links, 50+ social icons, all 12 themes, a free QR code and 7 days of click analytics, with no ads. Free pages show a small "Create your own free page" link at the bottom. Pro is $9 a month or $49 once and adds unlimited links, 90-day analytics and removes that link. The analytics matter on Reddit in particular, because they show whether profile visits actually turn into clicks. Our guide to tracking link-in-bio clicks explains how to read them.
Set up your Reddit profile links
Open your profile, tap Edit, add up to five social links, and keep your About text to one clear line. Post like a regular member of the communities you join and let your profile do the promoting.
