How to Add a Link to Your Discord Bio (About Me) in 2026
October 3, 2026 · 6 min read
Add a link to your Discord bio: tap You, Edit Profile, paste a full https:// URL into About Me. It is clickable and limited to 190 characters. Steps inside.
Quick answer: Discord has no website field, so your link goes in the About Me section of your profile. On mobile, tap the You tab, tap Edit Profile, tap About Me and paste the full URL, starting with https://. On desktop, open User Settings, choose Profiles, and paste the URL into About Me. Discord turns a full URL into a clickable link, and the About Me box holds 190 characters, link included. To show verified accounts like YouTube, Twitch or X, use Connections instead.
How to add a link to your Discord About Me in the app
- Open the Discord app and tap the You tab (your avatar) in the bottom right corner.
- Tap Edit Profile.
- Tap the About Me box.
- Paste your URL with https:// at the front. The prefix is what tells Discord the text is a link.
- Add a few words around it, like "All my links:", so people know what they are tapping. Watch the counter, which stops you at 190 characters.
- Tap Save. Then open your profile and tap the link once to confirm it opens.
Discord refreshed mobile profile editing in December 2024 so it matches desktop more closely. Older guides that send you through the gear icon and then Profiles describe the previous layout. If your app still shows the gear, that route works too.
How to add a link to your Discord bio on desktop
- Open the Discord desktop app, or go to discord.com in a browser, and log in.
- Click the gear icon (User Settings) next to your name in the bottom left corner.
- Choose Profiles in the sidebar.
- On the User Profile tab, click the About Me box and paste your URL.
- Click Save Changes in the bar that appears at the bottom of the screen.
Your About Me syncs across devices right away, so you only need to edit it in one place.
Is a link in a Discord bio clickable?
Yes, as long as it is a full URL. Discord's Custom Profiles help page says About Me supports Markdown, links, emoji and Unicode. When someone clicks an outside link, Discord may show a prompt naming the site before it opens, with an option to trust that domain from then on. Discord server invites and message links open inside the app.
One catch: masked links, the [text](https://...) format that works in chat, are not dependable in About Me. Many users report the brackets showing up as raw text, and there is an open request on Discord's support forum asking for masked links on profiles. Paste the plain URL and keep it short.
Discord profile limits and other places to put a link
- About Me: 190 characters for everyone, Nitro included. URLs count in full. Discord has been spotted testing a 300 character limit in 2026, but 190 is what most accounts see.
- Connections: under User Settings, then Connections, you can link accounts such as YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, X, Reddit, GitHub, Bluesky, Mastodon, Spotify, Steam, Xbox, PlayStation and Roblox, then choose to display them on your profile. You can also verify a domain you own. Instagram can no longer be added. Connections are verified accounts, not free form URLs, so they will not hold a shop or newsletter link.
- Custom status: up to 128 characters under your name. Links in a custom status are not clickable, so use it to say "link in my profile" instead.
- Server profiles: with Nitro, per-server profiles let you set a different avatar, banner and About Me for each server, and that About Me also allows 190 characters with links. Without Nitro you can still set a nickname per server.
- Nitro extras: Nitro adds animated avatars and banners, profile themes, profile effects and custom emoji in About Me. None of it adds a link field or raises the 190 character cap.
How to get your Discord profile link
If you want to link to your Discord profile from somewhere else, turn on Developer Mode under User Settings, then Advanced. Open your profile, use the three dot menu, and choose Copy User ID. Your profile link is https://discord.com/users/ followed by that number. It opens your profile for anyone logged in to Discord, which makes it the right link for your other bios when you want people to add you.
Why is my Discord bio link not working?
- No https://. Add the prefix and save again.
- Masked link syntax. Replace [text](url) with the plain URL.
- Out of characters. A long URL with tracking parameters can eat most of your 190 characters. Trim the parameters or use a short page URL.
- Changes not saved. On desktop, click Save Changes before you leave Settings.
- Flagged domain. Discord can warn about or block links to domains it treats as unsafe, and some shorteners get caught. Use the real destination URL.
- Old app. Profile editing moved in recent versions. Update Discord from the App Store or Google Play.

Put one link in your About Me that holds everything
190 characters goes fast once you add a line about yourself, a server invite, and a YouTube channel. A single lit.bio URL fits easily and opens a page with up to 10 links on the free plan: your Twitch, your YouTube, your merch shop, your server invite, your other socials. You get 7 days of click analytics, every theme, no ads, and no fee on links to your own shop or products. Free pages show a small "Create your own free page" link at the bottom. Pro is $9 a month or $49 once if you want unlimited links, 90 day analytics and that link removed.
The same URL works in your Twitch panels, TikTok and Instagram bio, so you update one page instead of five profiles. See our guides to adding links to Twitch and tracking link-in-bio clicks, then paste your page into About Me using the steps above. Start free
