Free Digital Visiting Card: Make One With WhatsApp, Location and Save Contact (No App)
October 27, 2026 · 7 min read
Make a free digital visiting card with a WhatsApp button, Google Maps location, reviews link and Save contact. Share it on WhatsApp Status or a counter QR.
Quick answer: A free digital visiting card is a one-page link with your name, business, phone number, a WhatsApp chat button, your Google Maps location and a Save contact button. You can make one on a free link page such as lit.bio: fill in the contact card, add your WhatsApp and Maps links, then share it on WhatsApp Status and print its QR code for your counter.
What is a digital visiting card?
It is the same thing as a printed visiting card, but as a link. Instead of a piece of paper that ends up in a drawer, the customer gets a page on their phone with buttons: call, chat on WhatsApp, get directions, see reviews, follow on Instagram, and save your number. Outside India it is usually called a digital business card. Good ones open in the phone's browser, so neither you nor the customer installs an app, and you can change the details any time without reprinting anything.
What should you put on a digital visiting card?
- Name and photo or logo. Use the name customers know you by, plus the shop name if it is different.
- One line about what you do and where. "Tailoring and alterations, Koramangala" tells a stranger more than a slogan.
- Phone and WhatsApp. A tap-to-call button and a WhatsApp button with a pre-filled message, such as "Hi, I got your card at the shop". Our guide to creating a WhatsApp link shows how to build it.
- Google Maps location. In Google Maps, search for your business or drop a pin, tap the name, tap Share, and copy the link.
- Google reviews link. In your Google Business Profile, open Read reviews and use the Get more reviews share option to copy your review link. Google says the reviews QR code can only be made in a computer browser, and that offering discounts or gifts in exchange for reviews is not allowed.
- Hours and address as text. Customers ask "are you open now?" more than anything else.
- Catalog or price list. A WhatsApp catalog link (wa.me/c/ followed by your number) or a menu or price list you already host online.
- Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. Small icons, not big buttons. They are for people who want to see more of your work.
- Payment details, only if you want them. See the UPI section below.
Can a digital visiting card take UPI payments?
Not on lit.bio. lit.bio has no UPI checkout and no store for physical products. You have two options. If your bank or payment provider gives you a payment page link, add it as a normal button. Or, if you are comfortable with it being public, write your UPI ID in a text block so customers can type it into their own UPI app and check the name it shows before they pay. Plenty of shops prefer to share payment details only inside the WhatsApp chat once an order is confirmed, which is also a sensible choice.
How do I make a free digital visiting card on lit.bio?
- Sign up free and claim lit.bio/yourname. Use your shop name if you can.
- Add your photo or logo and a one-line bio. Type your city or area in the Location field and it shows with a pin under your bio.
- Turn on the contact card and fill in your name, job title, business name, phone, email, website and address. Your page now shows a Save contact button.
- Add social icons: WhatsApp (your number with country code, or a full wa.me link), phone, email and Instagram.
- Add link buttons for Google Maps, Google reviews and your catalog or price list. The free plan allows up to 10 links, and headings, text blocks and dividers do not count toward that limit, so you can add an "Opening hours" text block freely.
- Pick a theme. Every theme and all 34 fonts are free, or tap "Design it for me" to get three ready-made designs from your photo and website.
- Download the page's QR code, scan it with a friend's phone, and tap Save contact to check every field comes through.
The step-by-step version with print sizes is in our guide on how to make a digital business card.
How do I share a digital visiting card on WhatsApp and at the counter?
- WhatsApp Status. Post a text status with your card link and a line like "Save our number for offers". A Status disappears after 24 hours, so repeat it now and then.
- WhatsApp Business profile. Put your card link in one of the two website fields, so anyone who opens your profile can reach Maps and reviews too.
- Ask people to tap Save contact. This matters more than it sounds. WhatsApp's Help Center says broadcast list messages only reach people who have saved your number in their address book.
- QR at the counter. Print the QR code on a small stand next to the billing desk with a line like "Scan to save our number and get directions". Keep it dark on a light background and at least 2.5 cm wide on a card, larger on a stand.
- Instagram bio and email signature. The same link works everywhere, so you never maintain two versions.
Paper card, Canva image, WhatsApp Business or a link page: which is best?
Prices checked in October 2026. Rupee figures are approximate, at about ₹88 to the dollar, and your bank may add a foreign currency charge.
| Option | Cost | Save contact in one tap | WhatsApp and Maps buttons | Update after sharing | App needed by customer |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Printed paper card | Per print run from your printer | No, typed in by hand | No (a QR code on it can link to a page) | No, reprint | None |
| Canva card image | Free templates on Canva's free plan | No | No, an image is not clickable | No, send a new image | None |
| WhatsApp Business profile | Free app | They must save you manually | Chat yes, address and two websites | Yes | |
| Blinq | Free plan (2 cards); Premium $9.99 a month (about ₹880) or $7.33 a month billed yearly | Yes | Links can be added | Yes | None to receive |
| HiHello | Free plan (2 cards); Professional $8 a month (about ₹700) or $6 a month billed yearly | Yes | Links can be added | Yes | None to receive |
| Free link page (lit.bio) | Free; Pro $9 a month (about ₹790) or $49 once (about ₹4,300) | Yes, Save contact button | Yes, WhatsApp icon and Maps link | Yes | None |
Be honest about what you need. If customers only ever reach you on WhatsApp and you have a catalog there, the free WhatsApp Business profile may be enough on its own. If you manage cards for a whole team or want NFC cards and a card scanner, Blinq and HiHello are built for that, and lit.bio has no team accounts. Our comparison of the best free digital business card apps goes through each one. A printed card still has a place, too: print your QR code on it and the paper leads to a page you can keep current.
Do I need to pay for a digital visiting card?
No. The free lit.bio plan covers the visiting card itself: contact card with Save contact, WhatsApp, phone and email buttons, a location pin, up to 10 links, a QR code, every theme and no ads. Free pages show a small "Create your own free page" link at the bottom. Pro adds unlimited links, a photo gallery, 90-day analytics, a contact form and removes lit.bio branding. Pro is charged in US dollars by card. If you pay with an Indian card, the one-time $49 option is simpler than monthly billing, because recurring foreign-currency charges need an e-mandate that some banks do not support.
