Tap.bio Shutting Down Oct 31, 2026: Best Tap Bio Alternatives
Updated October 3, 2026 · 7 min read
Tap Bio says its service ends October 31, 2026. Save your cards, links and images now, fix a dead tap.bio link, and compare four Tap Bio alternatives.
Quick answer: Tap Bio has confirmed on its own page that it is winding down and that service continues until October 31, 2026 (last checked October 3, 2026). Before that date, save every card, link and image by hand, then rebuild on a tool you plan to keep. If you mainly used Tap Bio's Instagram Links Card, Tap Bio's own suggested route, Link in Profile, is the closest match and comes with 50% off the first year. If you loved the swipeable cards, Milkshake is the nearest look; for unlimited free links, Linktree; for your own domain on a budget, Carrd. lit.bio fits if you want a free, browser-editable page with a Save contact button and music links, and can live with 10 links on the free plan.
Is tap.bio shutting down? What Tap Bio actually said
Yes. The tap.bio homepage opens Tap Bio's own profile, and its first card, titled "Important Announcement", reads: "We're winding down Tap Bio. Your service continues until Oct 31, 2026. No action needed now. Get 50% off Link in Profile (9+ years strong) with codes TB50M/TB50Y. Questions? [email protected]". We read that notice on October 3, 2026.
The card links to an official FAQ document. It says Tap Bio customers who switch to Link in Profile (a service whose site footer reads "Copyright © 2026 Tap Bio, Inc.") get 50% off the first year: $4.99 a month instead of $9.99, or $49.50 instead of $99 a year. On moving your data, it says: "We're currently exploring technical options to allow you to seamlessly migrate your Tap Bio account to a new Link in Profile account," and links a form to register interest. Taplink, a competitor, similarly reports that Tap Bio says it is working on an export option. So an official migration may still arrive, but as of our check there is no export button.
What Tap Bio has not said publicly is what happens to pages and links after October 31. Several competitor blogs report that pages will be deleted and old links will not redirect. Treat that as likely but unconfirmed, and save your content either way.
How to save your Tap Bio cards, links and images before October 31
This takes 15 to 30 minutes and works for any destination.
- Open your public page (tap.bio/@yourname), on a laptop if you can, and screenshot every card in order. to record the layout, colors and wording.
- Sign in to your Tap Bio dashboard and open each Links Card. Copy every button title and its full URL into a notes app or spreadsheet, one row per link, in the order they appear.
- Copy the text from your Profile Card and Simple Cards word for word: bio, headlines, descriptions, phone numbers and email addresses.
- Save your images. On a computer, right-click each card background and profile photo and save it. Originals from your phone or drive will be sharper, if you still have them.
- Note which cards pulled content from elsewhere. Instagram and YouTube cards display posts that still live on those platforms, so you only need the account names. If you used the Mailchimp email card, your subscribers should be in your Mailchimp account; log in there to confirm.
- List everywhere your tap.bio link appears: Instagram bio, TikTok, YouTube, email signature, menus, flyers and printed QR codes. Each one needs updating after you move.
- If you want the official route, fill in the migration interest form in Tap Bio's FAQ and send questions to [email protected].
Tap Bio's FAQ also explains how to delete your account (menu, Edit Profile, Delete my account). If you choose to, wait until your new page is live and your bio link has been changed.
How to move to any new tool
- Create the new page and claim the same username you used on tap.bio, if it is available, so followers recognize it.
- Add links from your saved list, most important first. Drop anything that stopped earning taps.
- Upload your profile photo and match your old colors so returning visitors know they are in the right place.
- Test every link on your phone, inside the Instagram app, before you share it.
- Swap the link in your Instagram bio first, then work through the rest of your list. Replace any printed QR codes that point to tap.bio; our link in bio QR code guide covers making a new one.
- Post a story telling followers your link changed.
None of the tools below imports Tap Bio pages, so expect to rebuild by hand. lit.bio's one-click importer works for Linktree pages only.

Where Linktree, Milkshake, Carrd and Link in Profile are better
- Linktree gives unlimited links and 28 days of analytics free, against lit.bio's 10 links and 7 days. It also has an Android app, courses, scheduling and Instagram auto-replies that lit.bio does not offer.
- Milkshake is the closest thing to Tap Bio's card format: a site built from swipeable Cards. Its free plan has unlimited links, 30-day analytics, and branding removal starts at $2.99 a month. App store reviewers do complain that you can only edit on your phone. See our Milkshake alternative breakdown.
- Carrd is the budget pick for your own domain, from $19 a year, with no Carrd fee found on payments and far more design freedom. You build element by element, and there are no built-in per-link click stats. Our Carrd vs link in bio guide goes deeper.
- Link in Profile is Tap Bio's own recommendation, the only option with a promised discount, and the most likely to get an official migration. It suits accounts that mostly used the Instagram Links Card.
Where lit.bio is better
- Every theme, font and button style is free, with no ads.
- A Save contact button is free: visitors get a vCard with your photo, no app needed. Useful if your Tap Bio page doubled as a business card.
- Music smart links and background music are on the free plan.
- Pro is available as a one-time $49 lifetime payment, so there is no recurring bill.
- You can edit in a browser or the iOS app, unlike Milkshake's phone-only editor.
- Paid subscription tiers carry no platform fee.
The limits, plainly: the free plan caps you at 10 links, there are no custom domains yet, tips and locked content carry a flat 10% fee plus Stripe processing (higher than paid Linktree or Milkshake tiers, and Carrd), Android is not out yet, and lit.bio is a newer, smaller product than Linktree.
If your tap.bio link already stopped working
Before October 31, a blank page usually means a card is unpublished (Tap Bio's FAQ points to the eye icon) or a temporary outage, which status.tap.bio would show. After October 31, assume the page is gone and do this:
- Change the link in your Instagram bio first. That is where most dead taps happen.
- Rebuild from what you have: old screenshots, your camera roll, Instagram captions with links, and your sent email.
- Try your tap.bio address in the Wayback Machine at web.archive.org. Tap Bio pages load with JavaScript, so a saved copy may be blank, but it takes a minute to check.
- Email [email protected] to ask whether anything can be recovered. Do not count on it.
- Search the web for your name plus "tap.bio" to find forgotten profiles, then update them and any printed QR codes.
- Tell followers in a story that your links moved.
Pick a home you plan to keep
Save your links and images this week, while your page is still live. Then choose by what you actually used Tap Bio for: Instagram post links (Link in Profile), cards (Milkshake), lots of free links (Linktree), your own domain (Carrd), or a free page with contact saving and music (lit.bio). If lit.bio sounds right, your saved list of up to 10 links is enough to be live today. Start free
